Welcome to touch card Hampshire

touch and go

What is touch card?

It's a smartcard created by First and designed to help you use the bus.

It works by storing your bus ticket on the card, replacing the paper tickets that you previously would have bought and used.

How does it work?

It's really simple to use.

You get on the bus and as the name of the card implies you simply touch it against the ticket machine.

Both you and the driver will then be able to see what is stored on the card, and assuming everything is valid, you will be able to take a seat for your journey.

What tickets are available?

To begin with the following tickets will be available to buy / load onto the touch card:

  • 10 journey Southampton
  • 10 single journeys on any First bus within the City of Southampton bounded by the junction of Lower Brownhill Way and Atherfield Road, Chartwell Green (Cerne Close), Sholing (the junction of Botley Road and Ashley Crescent) and Newtown (Tenterton Avenue)
  • 10 journey Portsmouth
  • 10 single journeys on any First bus within the City of Portsmouth bounded by the junction of Portsdown Hill Road and Crookhorn Lane, Widley Hampshire Rose, Paulsgrove (Portsdown Road) and Portchester (Mother Kelly's)

You will be able to buy these on the bus or in the travel shop.
